Handicare determines the eligibility for enrollment of new children by the childs age, developmental level and the hours that are needed in daycare. We give special consideration to children with special needs.

Prior to enrollment, the family must tour our center and talk with the Admissions Coordinator about the appropriate placement for their child. Handicares waiting list is prioritized in the following order:

  1. Children with special needs
  2. Children of staff employed by Handicare
  3. Siblings of children already enrolled at Handicare
  4. Children from the community in general

A $50 registration fee per child is required in order to place your child(ren) on the waiting list. This registration fee is not applied toward any other daycare charges. A $10 re-admittance fee will also be applied if you wish to re-admit your child, after not utilizing our program for 6 months. This happens if a child does not attend our program during the public school year other than spring break and the summer months.

The Intake Paperwork Packet must be completed and turned in two working days before your child is scheduled to start and will be reviewed with you by our Administrative Assistant.

When you are given a start date, you should set up a time to bring your child in to meet his or her teacher and spend some time socializing with his or her new classmates. (Note: During this time, the parent must stay with the child. If you leave, then we would be responsible for your child and you would be required to pay for the amount of time your child was here.)

The information that we receive concerning your child is always kept confidential unless you, the parent, or authorized guardian signs a release form. However, the staff may verbally share pertinent information about a child with appropriate co-workers within the facility. Information about a childs family will be shared with the staff only when the knowledge is deemed necessary to provide appropriate care for the child. If information about a childs family is received in written format, it will kept in sealed envelope within your childs confidential file folder. Handicares files are kept in a supervised area during our hours of operation.
